Sharkathon Base Camp Beach Parking

Sharkathon Base Camp will be located south of the 4wd sign, with constantly changing beach conditions we have to pick out the best spot we can just prior to the tournament. We will have a large tent as usual so please look for us within a few miles south of the 4wd sign each year. Last year we were approx 7-8 miles down the beach.

Every year we have a big problem during check-in and the parking around base camp. It is understood that there will be a lot of people parked in the area of base camp for a short period of time and we must maintain two lanes of traffic flow on the beach at all times. Anyone caught parking in a manner to impede, or block traffic lanes will get one warning and if the problem is not immediately taken care of they could be disqualified from the event. Please refer to the illustration below for an example of the correct way to park at base camp.

2012 PINS Superintendant Compendium

To quote the compendium here is the key park rule to pay attention to down the beach.

"Obstructing or interfering with the normal flow of vehicle traffic on North Beach or South Beach by means of a rope, tape, ditch, sand berm, equipment or supplies, vehicles, RV, Motorcycles, or any other means (vehicle, object or person) is prohibited, except in the event of an accident or other emergency." 

Any participant getting a citation for violating park rules could be disqualified from the event.
